My year has been somewhat eventful, A new start just the kids and I (single for the first time in 13 years!!!), new house (well its rented, but it's home), new town (well not quite seeing as we have lived here before), new school's!  </p>
<p dir="ltr">It's been tough on some of the kids, especially A (the 9 year old) carrying her into school and weeks of rearranging her bed so everything is in the right order or sitting next to her bed till she falls asleep.  <br>
P (the eldest, 12 year old) has been diagnosed dyspraxic which to be honest it's more of a relief and a light bulb moment. It's always been put down to part of her dyslexia at primary school and I'm glad she will be getting some more support. She is an amazing girl, she just is who she is regardless of the world around her.  <br>
I (my nearly 5 year old, only boy in a house of girls) is starting school in September! Which should be fun seeing as he has been adamant for years he doesn't like school and he doesn't want to go! <br>
That just leaves my sensitive K who is almost 8 now, who is my crafty little shadow and wants a go at everything I'm doing.<br>
Then the "baby" who at 2 is an independent, determined, bright little thing who really brings her sibling's together.  </p>
<p dir="ltr">It's been a good summer, we've had two camping trips over the holidays which was a lot of work but fun, and we all survived which is always a good thing! <br>
A few days out and a lot of being lazy together!</p>
<p dir="ltr">I think that's enough for today,  I will hopefully be back tomorrow with a crafty post.  </p>

I'm sat under a sleeping feeding baby, with nothing but an iPad, a toddler and my free graze box for company. So figured it was maybe time to say hello.<br />
<br />
My last post was about my third sock knitting attempt and I am a little embarrassed to admit that the pair are not yet finished! Though I am now onto the heel of the second one so the end is in sight. <br />
I am still suffering a serious case of procrastination with a side of distraction and a touch of chaos, so things tend to take me longer than expected. <br />
I am trying breakdown my projects and stick to deadlines, which helps a little, but I find moments like this when I could be fitting in an hour of knitting I'm wasting it online. Even my sewing machine is suffering neglect (in fact it hasn't been used in about 4 months!!)<br />
<br />
One day I hope to combat the procrastination (again! I've done it before back when I only had one child, a smaller, less cluttered house and no mobile Internet) unfortunatly there does not seem to be a miracle cure.<br />
<br />
I'm trying out the blogger app on my iPad right now and am not sure how to add pictures. So for now I'm going to go back to being held hostage by Pinterest while warming my toes by the fire and enjoying my sweet sleeping baby and tomorrow will try to post a complete pic spam from the last 5-6 months!multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-57935553452959956902012-10-01T02:21:00.001-07:002012-10-01T02:26:31.883-07:00Sock knitting: Take erm... Three!So about a year ago the urge to knit socks took me, I don't know what it is about hand knitted socks I guess they are pretty yet so practical. So I had a go with some lovely rainbow opal yarn and got about an inch of ribbing on a plain sock that seemed to take forever! Then my not quite two year old at the time son ripped the needles out and I gave up. <br />
Around Spring this year I found a book called cute knits for baby feet or something along those lines and came across the cutest baby socks and had to give them a go, I made a very cute baby sock with a messy heel which appeared to be too small. Once again that's as far as I got, plans to knit a whole range of cute baby socks never actually materialised. <br />
<br />
Then a couple of weeks ago someone tempted me with their pretty hand knit socks again and I rose to the challenge and picked a lace pattern that wouldn't get boring (dragonfly socks) and have now made it to the heel of my first sock. It went pretty quickly, when I compared the measly 60 stitches a round with the 200+ I've done on a shawl it just didn't seem such a daunting task. I know I still have another sock to go but this time I am hoping third time lucky. I think I'm hooked! <div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Cpv5HmNkgf-r8i5V19NktxXZedrYFz4gLO79ikllMhp-M-WmNVstnA-INh9sxrAlYZIvd9QQ6UAUJxnEi5sinuN4Qaf3J-Fa6vynS7QJ6Iq00wALdVcKRwL09ZLB9OeHj_UOmqua2co/s640/blogger-image--165592635.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Cpv5HmNkgf-r8i5V19NktxXZedrYFz4gLO79ikllMhp-M-WmNVstnA-INh9sxrAlYZIvd9QQ6UAUJxnEi5sinuN4Qaf3J-Fa6vynS7QJ6Iq00wALdVcKRwL09ZLB9OeHj_UOmqua2co/s640/blogger-image--165592635.jpg" /></a></div>multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-40781386196042154702012-08-14T03:16:00.001-07:002012-08-14T03:16:47.427-07:00Yarn dying fun continued.I decided to wind up my first skein of yarn I dyed yesterday and thought whilst I was at it I may as well get some more pictures of all three skeins.<br />
<br />
The first attempt: on the swift<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/2053312e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/2053312e.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All wound up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/e662fa80.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/e662fa80.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Attempt number two, I wasn't happy with the basic red/blue/yellow I wanted purples and pinks and greens but wasn't really Happy with the products of my colour mixing skills, so firstly a trip to Hobbycraft was in order. I was going for a sort of rainbow, so after mixing a bunch of colours up and dying some 4" strands of yarn to see how the colours came out, I started on the pre-soaked skein (vinegar and water) I was too lazy to wind the yarn into a longer skein, so just tried to spiral the colours around which although not going as planned didn't look to bad, then I wrapped it in clingfilm and microwaved it as before. Unfortunately the colours mixed even more during the microwaving and came out rather messily! Attempt #3, I just decided to go for blue, pink and purple, covering a third of the skein in each colour and mixing gently where they met.<br />
I had a very willing helper, in my eldest daughter, who was quite happy to help me rinse and squeeze out the yarn, though it may have had more to do with delaying bedtime and spending some uninterrupted time with me.<br />
<br />
The results:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/ACBD4ADA-E725-411B-B3F1-AD546760338E-979-000001C12A7AD043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/ACBD4ADA-E725-411B-B3F1-AD546760338E-979-000001C12A7AD043.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
I have two un-dyed skeins left. I definitely need to look into methods of placing the colours as I have no idea how the knitted product will come out (knitting time is somewhat limited at the moment, and I have a lot of wip being ignored) but think this may become a bit of a new hobby. In case I forgot to mention yesterday the yarn is organic merino aran from <a href="http://www.yarnundyed.net/">Yarnundyed</a>.<br />
<br />
My sewing machine made a bit of an appearance yesterday, it has been a bit sadly neglected lately. It was a bit of an experiment really, I sewed an extra panel into a T-shirt to make it into a nursing T-shirt. I haven't tried it on yet, but am hoping it works just like my h&m nursing tops, which I love but don't really come in a wide range of colours or styles. Hopefully with the machine out though, I may get back into sewing again.multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-19171321815821676062012-08-13T01:48:00.001-07:002012-08-13T02:46:28.189-07:00Yarn dying adventureThis is something I was thinking about a few months back but never got round to buying the yarn,then something reminded me and I ordered 5 skeins of organic merino aran from <a href="http://www.yarnundyed.net/">Yarnundyed</a>.<br />
It arrived super fast, so I dragged my poor kids round the supermarket looking for gel food colourings.<br />
I found a pack of red, blue and yellow in Tesco and just dived straight in, the first try wasn't exactly as I was expecting. I soaked a skein in vinegar/water mix for a few hours then mixed some of the blue gel and red gel with a bit of water, trying to go for pink and blue. I then squeezed out the skein and attempted to paint it with a brush. With an impatient baby and a couple of small people eager to help it was taking too long, so I tried to suck up the food colouring mix with the empty tubes the gel had come from and squirted it on the yarn itself, then I wrapped it in cling film and put it into a microwave container and put it in the microwave for 3 minutes and then let it rest 3 minutes. I did this 3 times in total then rinsed it off.<br />
It wasn't quite what I had expected, the red/pink was a lot paler than I had hoped and the blue was rather dominant.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1521.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1521.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have since dyed another 2 skeins but as I don't seem to have the photo's I am certain I took I will share them later.multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-33433858556614141412012-07-08T05:51:00.000-07:002012-07-08T05:51:49.548-07:00Introducing......I haven't been around to much, I've been a bit busy growing and growing, and on the 16th of June we got to meet our squishy baby girl!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1216-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1216-2.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
There has been lots of knitting going on too, so hopefully I shall be sharing that soon!<br />multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-1567999789779229592012-03-15T04:46:00.000-07:002012-03-15T04:46:02.455-07:00As usual a little late to the party!But (and I know that But with a capital B is probably against the laws of grammer or something) as I am working on 3 projects at the moment (after saying in a public forum that two was nough for me) I really wanted to share!<br />
So WIP wednesday! (on a Thursday!) <br />
<br />
First up, the Mizzle, which I think I will be working on for a while as I am only doing about 2 rows of this a day, need to check how much of this yarn I have because I am thinking I would like to do the larger version.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0760.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0760.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then My second baby cardigan, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bitty-cabled-cardigan">Bitty cabled cardigan</a>. I really think I need to check my tension. This is newborn size but seems teeny and rather than frog I think I will just pass it off as a teddy/dolly cardigan if its too small for Bean.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0758-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0758-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know it looks very un cardigan like at the moment!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am using my first set of knitpro cubics and I am not sure how I feel about them right now, they seem a little rough actually and the yarn catches where the square part of the needle starts after the join, though to be honest seem to be struggling with knitpro joins at the moment and I am kind of lusting after a set of interchangable hiyhiya sharps.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And last but not least! I have cast on my first ever pair of longies <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ultimate-longies">(ultimate longies)</a> with some gorgeous yarn from <a href="http://pixieknits.co.uk/">Pixieknits</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0757-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0757-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This pattern is really testing me. I struggle with written instructions sometimes as I have to be able to process/picture it in my head, and there are instructions for 3 different weights of yarn and 5 different sizes, but it has some picture instructions to help with the short rows etc at the end of the pattern. It is certainly giving my brain a fair bit of excercise!<br />
I am also a bit concerned these might be coming up a bit to small too, but they are on 30cm needles, these seem a bit difficult to find in the uk, I was eventually pointed in the direction of some fixed addi's, which I haven't tried before but am quite liking (once I got used to how short they were)<br />
<br />
So there we go, and for some actually timely WIP wednesdays, head over to<a href="http://tamisamis.blogspot.com/2012/03/work-in-progress-wednesday-84.html"> Tami's Amis</a>.multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-32095049829580960802012-02-27T03:35:00.000-08:002012-02-27T03:35:04.971-08:00Making progress!OK, so I am not quite finished with the cardigan, like I hoped! I have finished the body though and have moved onto the sleeves, YAY!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0693.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0693.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
(excuse the state of my table! with 4 kids keeping it clean is an endless task)<br />
Its a bit messy in places where I have fixed mistakes but I am hoping that this will look better after washing and blocking.<br />
<br />
I have also managed a few rows on my mizzle, and after receiving these<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0663.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0663.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
started my first crochet project! It is only an <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-jar-jacket.html">Attic24</a> jar jacket, but it is coming along nicely!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0669.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0669.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was thinking of using the left over yarn to make a small crochet baby blanket, but am not sure if there would be enough yarn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-33842111404200673772012-02-22T06:20:00.000-08:002012-02-22T06:21:17.560-08:00Wednesday already!Well seeing as it is, I may as well join in WIP Wednesday!<br />
Well I am STILL working on the baby cardigan (<a href="http://listcollector.blogspot.com/2008/02/unbend-cabled-baby-cardigan-pattern.html">Unbend cabled baby cardigan</a>), I managed to get a big chunk done on Sunday but things have slowed down again since. I am challenging myself to get it finished this week though, but probably not by Friday!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0661.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0661.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I should have really put in button holes, but as the pattern doesn't state where to put them I just didn't bother. I could maybe just put loops on to fasten it with.</div>
Yesterday on a bit of a whim I decided to cast on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mizzle">Mizzle</a>, I have had a bit of an urge to do another shawl, I intended to use a sock yarn I had bought for a different shawl but its just to fuzzy, so I have used a ball of sublime merino 4ply I bought on a whim because it was on sale and purple, I only have two balls so not sure I have enough but we will see.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0662.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0662.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As you can see I haven't got far! I have used a set of fixed hiyahiya needles but to be honest I think they are a bit slippery so I am going to switch to my knitpro's. <br />
Although I am not enjoying using them on the baby cardigan as the yarn keeps getting caught on the join, I also managed to snap one of the tips, whilst putting the sleeve stitches onto spare cables.<br />
<br />
If you want to see some more WIP's head over to <a href="http://tamisamis.blogspot.com/">Tami's Amis</a>multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-39795406683329923872012-02-11T03:09:00.000-08:002012-02-11T03:09:51.581-08:00I have been over taken by procrastination!It is amazing how I never seem to have time, yet at the same time I seem to waste so much of it!<br />
Since my last post I have done very little crafting and an awful lot of browsing and shopping! It is amazing how an hour of my day can disappear on the computer while I am having a coffee and slice of toast. I would really like to just switch the computer off and not touch it for a month but then I would miss my friends and my daily adult conversations, I would have to print out all those patterns I had intentions of doing that are stored in cyber space, I wouldn't be able to you tube when I came across a new technique I was unsure of either. What would I do if I got stuck?<br />
<br />
I must admit a little part of me could imagine living in a little cottage in the days before modern technology took over the world, spending my days baking, cleaning and crafting in front of a roaring fire in the evenings. No TV to turn the children into zombies, and no computer to turn me into a zombie! Living in a tight knit community where there would always be a neighbour to ask when I got stuck on something. <br />
<br />
Hmmmm Got me thinking if I could maybe go without the Internet for the weekend (well what is left of it) I guess I will think on that some more.<br />
<br />
So that teeny bit of crafting I have been doing?<br />
The start of an <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/unbend-cabled-baby-cardigan">unbend cabled baby cardigan</a> for the ever growing bean! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0586.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0586.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
As you can see I haven't got very far, but will have to get my act together if I want to get another cardigan, longies, soakers and baby socks done by June!<br />
Speaking of babies, bean is growing nicely <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0538.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0538.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also decided to give crochet another try as I would really love to crochet a blanket, got as far as a granny square, and a few practise rows.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really need to have a time set aside for my crafting (and actually stick to it!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hopefully I will be back soon, with a bit more progress!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
p.s. Ooooh postman has just been!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0588.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0588.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am really looking forward to trying out the cubic's tips for my knit pro's, they do look teeny though, and I know actually have cable needles now too!! And my first skein of malabrigo too, all from <a href="http://www.woolstack.co.uk/">Woolstack</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also some gorgeous hand painted yarn from <a href="http://pixieknits.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=41_42">Pixieknits</a> which will probably be turning into a pair of very cute (hopefully) longies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0590.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0590.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My pictures really don't do justice to the colours!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I must go, and am now on a shopping ban!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Shout and swear less! Play with the kids and craft more, spend more time outside, learn to crochet, make a quilt and there are a few special knitting projects I have in mind!<br />
<br />
Maybe this year I can keep the blogging up a bit more too! <br />
There hasn't been a lot of crafty things going on here for a while, been far to busy with family, diy and christmas. But there finally seems to be a bit of a lull in the madness and the first bit of knitting I have completed since about october was finally finished last night!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0458.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0458.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/aviatrix-baby-hat">aviatrix</a> hat, meant for my 5yr old daughter but its just too small for her, infact it doesn't fit my 2yr old son either! I did most of it before christmas but finished the ear flaps and strap the past 2 days and made atleast 3 mistakes!! but it feels good to finish something. The question is what to start next!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There was a bit of a crafting break before christmas, I just could not get myself to pick up a pair of needles and had no interest in yarn! For a very good reason though!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0332.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0332.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is amazing the things you go off when you have morning sickness!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope 2012 brings you all many wonderful things x</div>multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-18216870097154673942011-10-24T02:06:00.000-07:002011-10-24T02:06:20.392-07:00Living in bathroom renovation hell!Sometime towards the end of september my bathroom looked like this! (Notice the orange tiles, they were everywhere!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0081.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0081.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next day the toilet and bath were gone!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4 weeks later my bathroom looks like this!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/301413_2544814583508_1348052447_2948196_818182136_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/301413_2544814583508_1348052447_2948196_818182136_n.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pink stuff is an underlay before the underfloor heating and tiles go down. There is no toilet, no sink, no bath, no shower! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On top of this we are trying to tidy the house up a bit (aka putting right all the kiddy damage!) so we are trying to paint walls, declutter, and sot out "my" fireplace. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Its now half term, the upstairs hallway is filled with tools, there are random bits of bathroom stuff stashed around the house (and to be honest I don't think the man of the house has factored storage into the bathroom plans!) I am exhausted, run down and don't remember the last time I sat down to watch tv in the evening. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And to top it all (yes I know I shouldn't start a sentence with "and") I have lost my knitting mojo!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really would like a pair of fingerless mitts, I have the yarn, the pattern, the needles, but I don't want to look at it. I can't think about casting on. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am hoping it is just related to the stress and exhaustion and sometime soon I will be once again soaking in a hot bath (in my own house!) thinking about yarn!</div>multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-17747398802578104472011-09-12T01:41:00.000-07:002011-09-12T01:41:47.862-07:00What a start to the week!Its rainy, sunny and windy (reeeaalllyyy windy!) all at once, two of my children have come down with a cold, and admitedly I think i'm getting it too!<br />
I really did not want to get out of bed this morning after being woken a million times in the night, and my poor eldest daughter has gone back to bed for a couple of hours after being kept awake during the night by a really annoying kitty.<br />
Well altleast I got my hat finished this weekend though and can now concentrate on my socks!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG0011.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You have to excuse the quality of the picture, I got a phone upgrade and there is a huge fault with the camera needless to say its going back today and hopefully the replacement will have a fully functional camera!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The hat is a touch big, but I love it, it is cosy and soft and I love the colours!</div>
<br />
I am thinking I need to have a few more little projects on the go, I am envious of how many things others get made and in 3 weeks I knitted a hat! I guess maybe today I will pull out the sewing machine and get around to making me a new project bag!multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-91926552434370422032011-09-07T15:02:00.000-07:002011-09-07T15:02:55.655-07:00WIP Wednesday!Oh my, I think this is my 2nd WIP wednesday! and I think I am probably still working on the same things I was two weeks ago, I was away last week so just got a few minutes here and there to work on my current project my Hermoine hat and am about 75% of the way through, the colours are much brighter in person.<br />

Just a week left and my girls will be back at school and I will miss them like crazy.<br />
I haven't really achieved much since the last post.<br />
We have had a the odd few days out, we have been swimming again and everyone is gaining confidence. Isaac was even jumping in off the side.<br />
We are not at all prepared for the return to school, we are still short a pair of shoes for the ever fussy Amelia who declared every one of the 40 or so pair she tried on were hurting her feet or just not right! and we need to go top up the school uniforms, but that will have to wait until we get back from a couple of days in london next week visiting the (not really) inlaws!!!<br />
<br />
About a week or so ago I cast on<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hermiones-cable--eyelet-hat"> this hat</a>, which is coming along slowly but nicely<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG2141.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG2141.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Have also started on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/co-worker-neighbor-best-friend">this too</a> for ds but I need to realise I do not like James c brett marble, and have only done a few rows then ignored it! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG2142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG2142.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I want to get a couple of other things started as I don't want to have nothing to work on while we are away despite the fact that I will likely not even finish the hat.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I might even cast on my first pair of socks today!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG2154.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG2154.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
Here it is blocking very badly!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1838.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1838.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now I am in that horrible, horrible limbo between projects! Arrggghhhh</div>multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-47639742660044770102011-08-10T06:38:00.000-07:002011-08-10T06:38:29.355-07:00WIP WednesdayMy first time taking part, if you want to see more WIP Wednesdays check out<a href="http://tamisamis.blogspot.com/2011/08/work-in-progress-wednesday-53.html"> Tami's blog</a><br />
<br />
I am still working on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-age-of-brass-and-steam-kerchief">The age of brass and steam</a> and only got a couple more rows done yesterday as I spent most of my evening cleaning out the kids bedroom with my sister, but will hopefully be finished by friday.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1752.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1752.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Well I have a lot to do so better get back to work!multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-91186480878199827252011-08-09T02:37:00.000-07:002011-08-09T02:37:05.142-07:00The weirdness of blogger, or is it my computer?I know I haven't been around lately, with the summer holidays, housework and a million crafty things that needed doing i've been a teeny bit busy. Though not really a good excuse as I usually have a quiet half hour with my coffee on a morning. I have however tried to check up on others blogs and post a couple of comments but for some unknown reason blogger/my computer wont let me. It likes to pretend I'm not signed in unless im in my own blog, which also means it won't let me follow new blogs I come across.<br />
Its really rather frustrating.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I have been a busy bee with the crafting, the last week of term was spent making little zipped pouches for all the kids teachers<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1840.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1840.jpg" width="191" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Made from this <a href="http://flossieteacakes.blogspot.com/2009/05/lined-zippered-pouch-make-up-bag.html">tute</a> which was really easy to follow. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have also had a go at<a href="http://zaaberry.blogspot.com/2011/01/toy-bag-tutorial.html"> these</a> but got slightly distracted by a craft swap and buying some more colours of bias binding.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then I spent a couple of weeks working on something I can't share :o)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have also started on my first shawl, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-age-of-brass-and-steam-kerchief">The age of brass and steam</a>. Which is coming along nicely depsite a few mistakes, but I must accept nothing can be perfect, people make mistakes!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1549.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I've done a couple more inches on this, its smaller than I expected but assume it will be a teeny bit bigger once blocked anyway.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I think sleep deprivation has taken its toll on me. Anyhow you've missed a birthday, where my wonderful sisters brought me a rather fabulous cake! </p>
<p>And my mum, sister and her boyfriend and mine brought an even more fabulous kindle!!<br>
Which I'm almost finished making a kindle cosy for, I did my first ever cable and am amazed and impressed!</p>
<p>Anyway today has been a grumpy day so after school and a quick stop at Tesco we headed to the beach and blew the cobwebs away. </p>
<p>And beach without fish and chips just isn't right is it?</p>
<p>Ps I'm quite certain the pictures don't match the text but you get the idea.<br>

Sometime last year (before I learned to knit) I learned about knitpro (knitpicks), those pretty rainbow wooden sticks and when I decided once again I was going to learn to knit I promised myself once I had finished my first proper knitting project, when I was sure I would stick with it, I would treat myself to a set.<br />
<br />
I did and never looked back, I have picked up straight needles twice since I started on circulars and I never made it past a few stitches., I don't know if its a mental block or because circular needles are just so amazing! You never lose a needle because they are tied together, you can knit something as wide as you like, you can get little connectors to join the cables together and make them theoretically as long as you like. You can get the most amazingly beautiful wooden ones, acrylic, bamboo, stainless steel, nickel coated, you can even get itty bitty teeny weeny ones for knitting socks! You can get fixed ones with a set length of cable attached or interchangeable so you can use whichever length cable you need with whichever size needle you need (although teeny sizes don't come in interchangeable as the cable join would be bigger than the needle) and you can get a set for all budgets.<br />
<br />
What I love most about them is being able to knit in the round, watching the little vest I made for my son grow, its kind of like magic!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1286.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">althgough there is also three balls of an acrylic mohair blend (in peach) and the grey stuff on the right has a bit of wool in it too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">But that is just a fraction of what I found in there!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A bag of odd balls.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1281.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1281.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
The black glittery stuff really intrigued me, with its blend of lurex and courtelle (imitation wool!) and and im not quite sure what to do with the burghundy double boucle but there is around 15 balls of it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1296.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1296.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>There is also around four balls of imitation mohair, and four or five of a bottle green mostly mohair blend.<br />
I'm not done yet though, I haven't told you about the patterns, that is what got me really excited! I get a bit excited by old things just the thought of the history attached. Anyway here some pictures of my favourite bits.<br />

<br />
I am between cars at the moment and the other half decided he needed his car today so I was on foot. I decided to take advantage of the situation and have a wander round the local charity shops after dropping off the little munchkin to nursery. well I didn't make it past the first charity shop and I came across a huge bag containing a mini sewing machine, a lot of yarn, some needles and a big pile of knitting patterns. I was looking for a small sewing machine for the eldest two to use and took a bit of pot luck on the rest and decided to get it.<br />
It was unfortunately a bit too big for me to carry although I did contemplate trying to squeze it into my lovely pink ikea shopping trolley or leaving it till monday when I would have the car again.<br />
Then I had the perfect Idea, having Isaac already wrapped up on my back fast asleep I rushed home to get the pushchair and loaded it up...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1274.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1274.jpg" width="191" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The pushchair is a biiig three wheeled affair so you can see how big the bag was! A lot of the stuff looks like it may be a bit 'vintage'</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also picked up these too!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1273.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1273.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The red being 100% Icelandic wool and the green being a acrylic/nylon/alpaca blend.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I will post some more pictures when I get chance to go through everything.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

yeah I kind of disapeared for a while and life got in the way as usual! So A is for absent.<br />
<br />
Where have I been and what have I done? Well I think I failed the kids clothing challenge :-( I made ds three pairs of shorties and cut out the fabric for a twirly skirt and thats as far as I got.<br />
Other than that it was just housework, knitting and very long bedtimes! I was driven to ice cream.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1229.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1229.jpg" width="191" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I got out my treadle and am attempting to get it to sew (think there is a tension issue, the top thread keeps breaking and seems too loose before it goes through the tensioner thingy and too tight after, if that makes sense) I have changed the bottom thread after realising the bobbin in there had 3 different types of thread on it and god knows how many years it had been on there and will test it out a bit later!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1253.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1253.jpg" width="191" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I do have one exciting thing to share </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm finished my shrug!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1269.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1269.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I'm not sure about the sizing, it fits me but think it could have done with being a bit wider at the front. I am now planning on making smaller ones for the kids.<br />
I am yet to cast on my next project i think its something i need to do before i finish to avoid the "argghh I have nothing to knit" panic that takes me even longer to get something cast on!<br />
<br />
Hopefully will be back very soon with "b is for....."multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-83256888050171656702011-05-09T02:41:00.000-07:002011-05-09T02:41:01.135-07:00A new week and the sun is shining!<b>Urgh mornings!</b><br />
<br />
Oh dear It has been one of those morning's I hate! The ones where you know your going to be late and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it! At 8:42 this morning I had 2 children naked from the waist down, a missing shoe and a lot of hair to brush, as it was we literally made it as the door was shutting albeit short a coat, reading book and Amelia wearing a cardigan two sizes to small, nope I obviously didn't look at my child as she shot past me into the car this morning and will never win awards for my organisation skills!<br />
<br />
<b>Kids clothes week challenge.</b><br />
<br />
This week I am planning on taking part in <a href="http://www.elsiemarley.com/kids-clothes-week-spring-2011.html">kids clothes week challenge</a> , my sewing machine has been sadly neglected and Isaac could do with some summery clothes and some shorties to wear over his cloth nappies, and I would maybe like to make dresses or skirts for the girls. I'm planning on mostly upcycling as I have quite a few bits of old clothes/curtains/fabric and felted wool jumpers around, and will be trying to post daily about what I've been up to.<br />
<br />
<b>Knitting progress.</b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
As my knitting grows slowly row by row, I find it hard to see how much I have achieved, so have decided to post a photo every so often so I can see how its going. I have to admit there are one or two mistakes but there is no way I am going to start over with this again!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1143.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/IMAG1143.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>I am also trying to see how much extra knitting I can squeeze in, a row while supervising the kids in the bath or sitting with them chatting at bedtime. I have a bad habit of wasting odd minutes here and there as I don't feel there is enough time to get much done and I think I need to stop thinking and start doing!multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8000000372579321169.post-21209529915552283532011-05-05T05:38:00.000-07:002011-05-05T05:38:12.768-07:00Bad knitting karma!I have obviously committed some evil yarny crime of which I have no knowledge, and it has come back to bite me on the bum, because for some reason this shrug seems out to get me!<br />
After starting over last time I got quite far on, had to move on to the 2nd ball of yarn. then did a few more rows before I noticed a wandering yarnover that wasn't where it should be! cue me ripping back quite a few rows..... right back before I started the new ball..... back before i had weaved in the ends of the old and new ball! see where this is going?<br />
A few reminders to myself! check for mistakes before adding a new ball of yarn, then again before attempting to weave in the old a new balls ends and if I am ever stupid enough to forget the above, unweave the ends before starting ripping back. I somehow ended up with a large tangled mess of what seemed like 4 different strands of wool coming from all different directions.<br />
An hour later I had eventually managed to rip back to before the mistake and carried on knitting.<br />
I felt a bit like this thing just wasn't the same anymore, it was no longer smooth and pretty, anyway a bit further on and I noticed a couple of my yarnover's were breeding and had had a little baby yarnover! ARRGGHH I couldn't even bring myself to frog this yet and have started over with the original yarn and 6mm needles. Five rows in and I haven't screwed up yet!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/shrugtake4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="102" src="http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/kc_kathryn/shrugtake4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><b>My opinions on the hiyahiya's.</b><br />
<br />
I transferred the previous shrug from my knitpro symfonies on to a hiyahiya 5mm stainless steel, compared to the knitpro it was very slippy and the stitches moved along it much easier which meant they also fell of it a lot easier! once I got used to them and stopped dropping stitches, they were quite nice to knit with there were no rough edges to catch the yarn and no mysterious places the yarn got stuck. The cable however is not as slippy and the stitches didn't seem to move along it freely it is also quite curled up and not as flexible as the knit pro cable. Shrug attempt #4 was started on a 6mm hiyahiya which for some reason aren't as smooth as the other pair. I will certainly be using them though and for the price I paid am rather impressed. It won't stop me from trying out other needles but was a fix for my hiyahiya curiosity!multitasking mum of fivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12300065144033462932noreply@blogger.com0
